Partner Temporary Visa (subclass 820)

 

This allows you to enter Australia and remain for approximately 2 years from the date you applied for the visa. When you get this visa you are allowed to work in Australia. You will be able to study in Australia but you will not be eligible for government funding and you will be required to pay the international fees upfront. This visa also enables you to enroll in Medicare.

 

Partner Permanent Visa (subclass 801)

 

Under this scenario if you and your partner are still together after 2 years on a temporary visa subclass 820, you may be eligible for a permanent visa. Upon getting this visa you can remain, work and also study in Australia. You can remain enrolled in Medicare, and can receive some social security benefits. Under this you can also apply for Australian citizenship depending on your eligibility for residency

 

Partner Temporary Visa (Subclass 309)

 

This scenario comes in when you are overseas and you want to enter Australia and stay with your partner who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible citizen from New Zealand. Under this visa you would be allowed to enter Australia and remain until a ruling is made about your permanent visa. Here you are allowed to work in Australia and also allowed to study in Australia but will not get any government funding. You are also permitted to enroll in Medicare.

If in case 2 years on a temporary visa subclass 309 you and your partner are still together and you are still eligible for this visa, you may be granted a permanent visa. Under this visa you will be allowed to enter Australia and remain permanently. You will also be permitted to study and work here. You are eligible for Medicare and you can receive some social security benefits. Under this Visa you are also permitted to apply for Australian citizenship depending on your eligibility for residency.

 

Prospective Marriage Visa (subclass 300)

 

This is the visa that is for them who are from overseas and wish to enter Australia before marrying their fiance who must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible citizen of New Zealand. This visa is valid only for 9 months. Under this visa you can enter and leave Australia as many times as necessary before marrying your fiance', all within the 9-month validity of this visa. You can work in Australia. You can also apply for a Partner visa after being married to your fiance'. Studying is permitted, but without any government funding, and you may use Medicare only in Australia and only if you have already applied for Partner Visa.

 

The pair planning to ‘stay on’ in Australia should provide valid marriage proof that they are officially wedded. The basic target is to minimise the number of people who want to obtain visas using fake documents. Also the applicant should have a health check up at an Australian institution and the results should by all means be linked to the application. Also the applicant should be examined for HIV and AIDS before she gets any approval to the country.
